Vairagya Yogashala is a globally recognized institution dedicated to teaching the ancient art and science of Tibetan sound healing. Rooted in centuries-old Himalayan traditions, the school offers structured training programs (Levels 1 through 4) and wellness sound healing retreats, blending traditional wisdom with modern techniques to promote healing, relaxation, and personal transformation. What are the different levels of training offered?
We offer four progressive levels of Tibetan Sound Healing Training, as per SHVSA guidelines:
• Level 1 Sound Healing Training: An introductory course focusing on the basics of sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls, including history, techniques, group Tibetan sound baths, and self-healing practices. Ideal for beginners.
• Level 2 Sound Healing Training: Builds on Level 1, introducing private therapy techniques, additional sound healing instruments, and working with clients one-on-one.
• Level 4 Sound Healing Training: Focuses on vibrational healing with Tuning Forks, integrating sound healing into wellness practices, creating a sound bath design, and deeper therapeutic applications of Tibetan sound healing.
Each level is designed to deepen your understanding and skills progressively.
Who can join the training programs?
Our training programs are open to anyone interested in learning Tibetan sound healing, including beginners, wellness practitioners, yoga teachers, therapists, and those seeking personal growth. No prior experience is required for Level 1, though higher levels may have prerequisites (e.g., completion of previous levels or relevant experience). What are wellness sound healing retreats?
Our wellness sound healing retreats are immersive experiences combining Tibetan sound healing with yoga, pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, and holistic wellness practices. Held in serene locations across multiple countries, these retreats offer participants a chance to relax, rejuvenate, and experience the transformative power of sound. They are suitable for all levels and often include workshops, group sound baths, and personal healing sessions.
In which countries are the training and retreats offered?
We host our Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 training and affordable wellness retreats in various countries, including India (e.g., Goa, Jaipur, Rishikesh), Thailand (e.g., Koh Phangan), Bali (Indonesia), Costa Rica, Nepal, Canada, the United States, and several European nations. What is the duration of the training programs?
The duration varies by level:
• Level 1 Traditional Sound Healing Training: Typically 3-4 days (20 hours)
• Level 2 Traditional Sound Healing Training: Approximately 5-7 days (40 hours)
• Level 4 Traditional Sound Healing Training: 10-14 days (80 hours)
Our holistic healing wellness retreats range from 3 to 7 days, depending on the program.

Do I need my own Tibetan singing bowls?
You do not need to bring your own Tibetan singing bowls for training or retreats, as we provide instruments for practice during the sessions. However, you can bring your own bowls to deepen your practice. We also offer high-quality, authentic Tibetan singing bowls for purchase during the training at exclusive rates.
Are the programs certified?
Yes, upon successful completion of each level, you will receive a certification from the Vairagya Yogashala. Our certifications are recognized internationally and qualify you to practice or teach sound healing, depending on the level completed. Level 4 graduates are certified to train others as sound healers.
We recommend you register with SHVSA after your training for better reach, and if you wish to complete your Master Healer Training at some point. They are a non-profit, working very hard to maintain the Traditional Tibetan Sound Healing standards and work on very low licensing fees.
If you are a Yoga Instructor or have completed a Yoga Teacher Training Certificate course, we also recommend you sign up with Yoga Alliance and claim your YACEP hours. This a great source for yoga teachers to get more visibility and traction.
What is the cost of the training programs and retreats?

Are accommodations and meals provided?
Many of our training programs and retreats include accommodations and meals (typically vegetarian or vegan) to create a fully immersive experience. How do I register for a training or retreat?
You can register online through our website. Visit the “Trainings” or “Retreats” section, select your desired event, and follow the registration process. A deposit is typically required to secure your spot, with the remaining balance due before the program begins. Early registration is recommended, as spaces are limited.
What should I bring to the training or retreat?
Each program has a list of things to bring, and we highly recommend you review it thoroughly when you pack, A few common items we suggest bringing are:
• Comfortable clothing for meditation and practice.
• A notebook and pen for taking notes.
• A water bottle and personal items (e.g., toiletries).
• A yoga mat (always prefer to use your own mat).
• An open mind and heart!
Can I use sound healing professionally after training?
Yes! After completing your training you’ll have the skills to offer sound healing sessions professionally.
Level 1 prepares you to lead group sound baths, and teaches Tibetan sound healing therapies for self.
Level 2 incorporates using additional sound healing equipment, and some 1-on-1 Tibetan sound healing therapies for certain issues
Level 4 includes chanting, pranayama, incorporating other healing modalities with Tibetan sound healing, vibrational healing with Tuning Forks, and more 1-on-1 therapies for deeper issues. It also qualifies you to teach others.
